Psalm 30:4 – Sing to the LORD, you saints of his; praise his holy name.

I bought a hymnal over the weekend and, surprise, surprise, a new Bible. :D I’m telling you, it’s a disease! Of the very BEST kind! I’m very excited to own a hymnal of my very own! I love the church I attend. I love the contemporary praise and worship. However, I miss the old hymns I grew up on too.

I don’t know why it took me so long to think of buying myself a hymnal. I was so excited to find them at the one Christian store I frequent. You may not know this, but I am a flute player. Ever since I returned to the Lord, He has filled my heart with a desire to worship Him with my flute. I’m so excited! I’m totally going to incorporate singing and playing songs of praise to the Lord in my devotions! What better way to spend time than worshiping the Lord?

Psalm 33:1
Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous; it is fitting for the upright to praise him.

Psalm 33:2
Praise the LORD with the harp; make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.

Psalm 40:3
He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.

Psalm 47:6
Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises to our King, sing praises.

Psalm 51:15
O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise.

Psalm 52:9
I will praise you forever for what you have done; in your name I will hope, for your name is good. I will praise you in the presence of your saints.

Psalm 57:9
I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.

Psalm 63:4
I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.

Psalm 66:8
Praise our God, O peoples, let the sound of his praise be heard;

Psalm 89:52
Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.

In other news, Stuart McAllister and Margaret Manning, from Ravi Zacharias International Ministry,  are coming to Calvary Chapel Ft Lauderdale for a 2 day conference in November. I am so going to be there, Lord willing of course. I love their ministry! It is so informative. I really enjoy apologetics. I also bought a book that gives an overview of the top 100 religions in the world. I think it is important to learn what other folks believe in. I also took a spiritual gifts survey for Biblical counseling. I took a survey a couple of years ago when I was a new Christian. It’s cool to see where God has been leading me through His gifts. I took the “modified Hout’s questionnaire.” I scored highest in mercy, exhortation, and celibacy. I have always score high in these three. The first time I took the test and discovered the gift of celibacy, I laughed out loud. I said, “celibacy is a gift? Isn’t that like giving your wife a toaster for Christmas?” Now I understand this gift much better. :) I think I’ve said enough for one day. Maybe you didn’t want to know this much about me? :D

Yours in Christ,

  1. I love hymns too. And funny, I used to play flute in 7th Grade, but never kept with it. These days, I’m trying to teach myself guitar, but never seem to have the time for it. I’d love to play something musically…and have written several poems that I’d love to turn into songs..but alas, its not the right time.

Have you ever watched the Truth Project DVD’s or been to a Truth Project class? Ravi Zacharias was apart of that and I really liked that class…it had so much good things to say and think about.

  2. Hey there MB! I never heard of the Truth Project. I’ll have to google it and see what I find. It sounds cool. :)
