Yesterday, I met with the southeast regional coordinator of Africa Inland Mission. I told him my hopes and dreams about the future. He told me what the organization is looking for in missionaries. It was a very insightful meeting.

He gave me further guidance on the things I can do now to prepare for becoming a long term missionary. He gave me the information for an online Bible course that is geared towards missions. It is a course that awards a certificate upon completion that is acceptable for Africa Inland Mission. For those of you who might be interested in pursuing a Bible education, the course is Dimensions of the Faith. It is given by Gordon Conwell Seminary. The best part is the course is free and it is amazingly good!

I was telling one of my friends about this course. She then found another free course that looks just as amazingly good or even better than the one I was directed to. It is called Worldwide Classroom and it’s offered by Covenant Theological Seminary.

In the process of pursuing this dream, I’ve learned that I need to know more. Isn’t it just like that in life? We have to be striving to learn. What makes this exciting for me is I haven’t had a desire to learn in a very long time. I never thought I’d see the day that I would want to go “back to school.” But the whole purpose of my life now is to know God, to bring Him glory, to reflect Him to everyone I meet.

This morning, I began my class in OT Survey I. I learned something amazing.

²⁷ So God created human beings in his image. In the image of God he created them. He created them male and female.

The Hebrew word for image is tselem which can also be translated to mean idol. An idol is an image or representation of a god or goddess. So when it says we were created in the image of God, it means we are the representation of God that people can see in the physical, the way an idol is the representation of the god that people can see in the physical.
