Ephesians 6:12

12 Our fight is not against people on earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness, against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world.

I had a strange encounter at work yesterday. It was the first time in nearly 2 weeks I circulated a case. The case was to remove an inferior vena cava filter that dislodged and was actually protruding from the vena cava. In short, the vena cava is the largest vein in the body. A filter is placed there for people who are prone to blood clots which can lead to life threatening conditions and/or death. This was a major surgery to fix what should have been a minor procedure.

I went to interview the patient. As you all know, I like to inform my patients of my love for Jesus Christ, to offer them encouragement and prayer. Most people I meet are just lost. This patient was different. I introduced myself. I asked her her name and she jokingly said, “Princess Diana of Wales, but my name bracelet will say blah blah blah.” I asked her  her birthday and she said, ” 12/20/77. I came to prepare the earth for Jesus Christ. So when He came, it was actually the second coming of Christ.” I actually took a step backward. I sensed some kind of evil spirit in this person. I moved away from her to check her chart. She then told me about her history of porphyria, a blood disorder that causes people to have a strong negative reaction to sunlight. She described herself as being like a vampire. It was all very creepy.

Other people from the team came by to speak to her and she was giddy, asking for birthdays, demanding to hold hands. She started telling the others about their good energy. I was thinking at the same time, “you are full of bad energy.” I excused myself and said I would be back when it was time for the surgery.

I walked down the hall, speaking to God. “What should I do about this God? How do I seperate the girl from the evil spirit inside her? She is just a girl who has gotten involved with the wrong side. She probably doesn’t even understand what she’s allowed to occur to her. After all, I dabbled in the occult before I knew better too.” I knew the absolute best weapon I have is prayer. I figured I would pray for that spirit to come out of her while she was sedated because it would actually be a safe time for her. She wouldn’t be able to object.

When I brought her to the room, she was sedated. She seemed like just a normal girl then. She was afraid. I leaned over and softly, but emphatically said in her ear, “Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I will be praying for you. You are going to be fine. This is going to be a challenging day, but you are going to be fine. God says in the Bible that He is with you, that He holds your right hand, that He will help you.” There was a tear that slid down her face as she asked, “You’re allowed to pray for me?” I replied, “Absolutely!” Then she asked if all the catholics and Christians in the room would pray for her!

God is so good! I did pray to cast out the evil spirit. I can only hope it worked because she was still sedated when she left the OR. Her surgery was successful thanks and glory to God!

The thing that struck me the most in that initial encounter was her eyes. They were almost black and I found myself wondering if the spirit in her could see the Spirit in me and that’s why she said what she said about Jesus? I mean, how random and odd was that initial statement? People take the name of the Lord in vain all the time, but this was really different. Those powers and principalities are real. I have no doubt in my mind what we are up against. Please join with me in praying for this girl’s soul, her life depends on it!

Dear God,
Thank You for the privilege of serving You. Please look after J. Please free her from the grasp of the enemy. Please restore her. Please open her eyes and grant her repentance. The enemy is strong, but You are so much stronger. Do something miraculous for this girl so Your name is glorified! Thank You for helping me, for the armor You provide. Thank You for supernatural courage. I love You! In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Forever His…
Michelle

  4. Wow, what an experience. I love the way you handled the situation. I know God was leading you. There is so much in the spirit world that we just don’t understand. I’m glad you shared your experience and I know others besides myself will pray for her and for you.

  6. I’m sure God sent that young lady to your hospital for a reason, and I’m thankful you were there to reassure her. I will pray for her.

  7. My prayer is that God will not let her get away from the words of life you spoke over her. That they will ring in her hears until she answers the call of His Spirit to turn from sin to Him.

    Blessings ~ Lisa
